P-Bass® Vintage

I swapped out my Seymour Duncan SPB-4 for a Lundgren P-Bass Vintage, which Johan kindly custom-wound with 5% extra turns at my request.

Now, I like the SPB-4. It's a great vintage-hot pickup, but I wanted something European-made, with a bit more articulation and little less boominess.

I recorded the same bass line before and after the swap, and somewhat surprisingly, they sound quite similar. The Lundgren has slightly lower output, as expected, and a little less energy in the 60-250 Hz range. On the other hand, it has more articulation and note definition, and maybe a bit less compressed.

It's a very musical pickup, a recognizable vintage P-bass character, with just a little extra meat.

Exactly what I was looking and hoping for. Couldn’t be happier!

After few gigs on stage, I must say that the sound of the new pickup is really excellent... unlike other brands I've tried, they doesn't seem to have any particular "emphasis" on certain frequencies... I found them very linear and transparent, they give me back the sound and the character of my instrument.
one thing I liked, in the dynamics when I play much louder I felt that they have a pleasant drive that also interacts very well with the sensitivity of pedals or preamps.
